How to Live Like a Local in Kuala Lumpur

The only thing that allows one to truly indulge in the way of the locals of a host country while you travel is to just try living the way they do. Kuala Lumpur is a city where urbanisation has taken over the lives of the Malaysians and city life is at its best. Here's how you can experience this bustling city just like the locals do each day.

Delightful cosy little coffee shops

If you need to kick start your day with a good brew and fast Wifi, then a cosy coffee shop is where you need to head to for a lovely breakfast and your morning dose of caffeine. Try the most loved spots like Feeka where the baristas keep your order well in mind whenever you visit or Lepaq Lepaq where a floating cotton candy melts into your mug.

If you are staying at hotels like PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Kuala Lumpur, try the cafes by the hotel as well. This will have a little bit of a luxurious feel to it, but there is no harm in treating yourself on your holiday now is there!

KLCC Park

If you need to just hang out for the day and observe the locals as they have fun as well, KLCC Park situated at the bottom of the Petronas Towers is where you need to be. Grab a few snacks and chilled drinks and sit out and enjoy. There is a mini rainforest here as well if you feel like exploring and a fountain to dip your feet in and cool off in the heat of the day.

Locals come here with their kids to have some quality family time the cheap and easy way.

Experience authentic dining

Malaysian cuisine is an absolute treat for the taste buds, so why not try it? Head over to Lot10Hutong. This is an underground eatery that gives the feel of a dungeon. Nevertheless, the food served up here is just amazing and is not to be missed when in the city of Kuala Lumpur.

Visit the Chin Student Organisation

KL is not all about the glitz and glam. There are areas where most tourists don't tread on and visiting these places brings you back to reality from the high of the city. Here you will have the chance to meet a few forgotten children and help with their work.

The experience is just a couple of hours long but is indeed rewarding for you as well as the kids who eagerly await to meet you.

Changkat Bukit Bintang

Keep in mind that the famous Bukit Bintang is a wonderfully set tourist trap with bars, restaurants and malls for shopping. Not to mention, quite messy as well! Instead, try heading about 2 blocks away from the main entertainment zone and you'll come across Changkat Bukit Bintang.

This is a laid-back little town with bars and restaurants that are totally unique and provide a better experience away from the typical city one. Visiting Changkat Bukit Bintang is really worth it, you'll know when you finally do visit.

Nightlife in KL

The nightlife in KL is quite vibrant with bars and clubs offering great experiences and are located close to many a serviced apartment in KL. You can enjoy a Vegas-style night at Zouk where you will have to pay for entrance, but a complimentary beverage is given. If you want to have a bit of a relaxed experience, then try heading over to Negaba KL which is a rooftop Mojito bar. If you are up for a cabaret experience, then the place to be is Blue Boy Discotheque for an unforgettable time.
