How to Get to Khao Lak and Spend Your Vacation – Travelling to an Alluring Destination

Khao Lak happens to be a seaside locality in Thailand where you will find several attractive villages and resorts; it is a popular destination for tourists, although it remains pleasant and quiet, having evaded the hand of overdevelopment. It would be a perfect destination for honeymooners, families and other travellers who desire to avoid the tourist crowds and seek serenity and relaxation. There will be several ways to reach Khao Lak, as described below.

 By Plane

Probably the simplest way of reaching Khao Lak would be to take a flight to either Phuket – where you will find the closest airport – or alternatively, Krabi. From the airports at these locations, you will be obliged to avail yourself of a bus, taxi or car ride to make your way to this destination.

If you choose to take a taxi from the airport to Khao Lak, the exact amount that you will have to pay will depend on the number of people travelling and the location at which you desire to be dropped off. You may also choose to make this journey by rental car. A choice of accommodation to consider which you could reach by taxi, rental car or private transfer from Phuket International Airport would be Avani+ Khao Lak Resort; it may be regarded as one of the appealingly located SHA Extra+ certified resorts in Khao Lak that make a convenient base for a holiday. On the other hand, if you desire to save money you could make your way to the main road located some distance from the airport and board a bus heading in the direction of Khao Lak.

 By Train

You could also make your way to Khao Lak by train. The closest train station would be the one at Surat Thani. You will find that the train journey to Surat Thani from Bangkok will take around 12 hours and accordingly, an express night coach should be a good choice. You will have the option of travelling first class, which would be air-conditioned, or second class. On the other hand, you should remember that after reaching the Surat Thani Train Station you will be obliged to board a bus to reach Khao Lak, another journey of four hours.

 By Bus

Meanwhile, travelling to Khao Lak by bus will also be an option for visitors. Although no bus routes commence or conclude at Khao Lak, you will find several buses that pass through this area and will permit you to get off here. You will find that buses from Bangkok, Phuket, Chumphon, Surat Thani and Ranong all pass by this destination.

You will find that most of these buses will stop at Nangtong Supermarket situated at the centre of Khao Lak. Meanwhile, several express buses will stop only at Baw Kaw Saw (BKS) Bus Terminal. You will see that BKS happens to be a small terminal situated near Khuk Khak’s fresh market, a short drive from the centre of Khao Lak. Should you be travelling to Khao Lak from Bangkok, you may board a bus at Sai Tai Mai, or Southern Bus Terminal.

 By Taxi or Car

There’s another option if you desire to travel quickly and in comfort, and don’t mind paying more than you would for a train or bus; you would be able to make the entire journey to Khao Lak by taxi or rental car. As you might expect, with this mode of transport you will be able to travel directly from your starting point to your accommodation in Khao Lak without the necessity of having to disembark on the way. You will also have the option of choosing a van, which would be a good choice if you are travelling with several people. The added comfort and flexibility will make travelling by taxi or rental car an appealing choice; also remember, you should naturally be careful if you are driving in a new environment.
