Oman is located in the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula and is basically a huge desert land with mountain ranges bordering it all around. There are plenty of things visitors can do when on a vacation here. The country has more than 2,500 historic sites for you to take a look at. Apart from beaches and local markets, you can also partake in underwater activities while you are in Oman. There are many things to do, regardless of which part of Oman you choose to stay at. The best time to visit Oman

The best time to visit this country is from October to May as it is the coldest months of the year. Col means, the temperature will be around 24 degrees Celsius. The country has one of the hottest climates on Earth and there is very little rain, which is to be expected since it is a desert. The mountains in the southern part of Oman has green forests and thus, a tropical climate with a rainy season that happens there from June to September. The mountains in Jebel Akhbar also have quite a bit of rainfall and the tallest peaks experience lower temperatures from time to time. If you are lucky, you will even see snow here. You might want to avoid visiting the country from May to September, as it is the hottest time where temperatures will even go up to 50 degrees Celsius in many parts of Oman.

Before you plan the holiday, make sure you read up on the entry requirements and the visa requirements of the country. You must comply with all the necessary documents and then start planning and booking your trip.

Getting to Oman

Many regional and international airlines fly into the Muscat International Airport. Some of these flights also land elsewhere and there are connections into the country through Dubai. There are cruise ships also, that will take you from Muscat to Oman. Many people who get into Oman use the border crossing in the UAE. Once you get to Muscat and Dubai, you will realise that there are regular bus services that will bring you to Oman.

Omani things to do

The historic parts of the country are one of Oman's biggest and most visited attractions. Many of these places have been restored to their glory days and provide an amazing glimpse into the country's past. There is a 14th century Fort located in the foothills of the Jebel Akhbar mountains. This fort stretches out for seven miles and is also a well-known UNESCO world heritage site. Yet another noteworthy attraction you must visit when in Oman is the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat. This is the most prominent Mosque in the country and the prayer hall holds up to 7,000 worshipers at a time. The interior will definitely amaze you as it has one of the world's biggest carpets. The Gardens of the local Palace is another attraction that travellers must not miss out on.
